( Paatita Pabana), as Shri Gannatha rescues the fallen, his other name is Fallen.  The east-facing idol of Jagannath on the right, especially inside the Gumut of the Lion Gate, is said to have fallen.  Those who were converting could not go to the temple and could see the fallen from the Arun pillar.  According to tradition, the Ansar rituals of the fallen, the fittings of the doors, the mangal aalti, are variously performed.

(ପତିତପାବନ), ଶ୍ରୀଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ପତିତମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରୁଥିବାରୁ ତାଙ୍କର ଅନ୍ୟ ନାମ ପତିତପାବନ ଅଟେ । ବିଶେଷ କରି ସିଂହଦ୍ଵାର ଗୁମୁଟ ଭିତରେ ଡାହାଣ ପଟରେ ଥିବା ପୂର୍ବାଭିମୁଖୀ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ମୂର୍ତ୍ତିଙ୍କୁ ପତିତପାବନ ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ । ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଧର୍ମାନ୍ତର ହେଉଥିଲେ ସେମାନେ ମନ୍ଦିର ନ ଯାଇପାରି ଅରୁଣ ସ୍ତମ୍ଭରୁ ପତିତପାବନଙ୍କୁ ଦର୍ଶନ କରି ପାରୁଥିଲେ। ପରମ୍ପରା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ପତିତପାବନଙ୍କର ଅଣସର ବିଧି, ଦୁଆର ଫିଟା, ମଙ୍ଗଳ ଆଳତୀ, ବିଭିନ୍ନ ବେଶ ପ୍ରମୁଖ କରାଯାଏ ।
