 A Ratnabhandar was built at the Jagannath Temple when a temple was set up to store various ornaments for the Thakurs to wear.  The gold and silver, diamonds, diamonds and other gems found there were donated to the temple by the kings and queens.  It has been locked in the Ratnabhandar for hundreds of years.  In 1952 and 18, three boxes of gems were opened and jewelery was removed to make the list.  This complete list could not be created.  Some of the jewelery was stored in the Reserve Bank of India.  Some of the jewelery is kept in the warehouse for Thakur's daily use in the guise of Jagannath.  Many of the jewelry has been damaged over time without maintenance.  The Ratnabhandar has three keys, one of which is owned by Puri Gajapati, while the other two are owned by the temple administration and the store's make-up.  Ratnabhandar can be opened by combining the three keys.  There are about 50 large chests full of a variety of precious jewelry.  Every year on the Harishayan Ekadashithi, the chariot is crowned with gold, while on dates like Dolapurnima, Vijayadasami, Poush Purnima and Karthik Purnima, Jagannath is crowned with the Sunabesha or Rajarajeshwar on the throne.  Most of the gold jewelry is used on the Harishayan Ekadashi date.  Jagannath is dressed as Gajuddharana, Raghunath, Banabhoji, Krishnabalaram, Radha Damodar, Laxminarayan, Bankchuda, Adakia, Dakshinrsingh, Baman, Chacherani and Chandanbhalan.

ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ମନ୍ଦିରରେ ଠାକୁରମାନଙ୍କୁ ପିନ୍ଧାଯିବା ସକାଶେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଅଳଙ୍କାର ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ଦେଉଳ ତୋଳା ହେବା ବେଳେ ଏକ ରତ୍ନଭଣ୍ଡାରର ନିର୍ମାଣ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା । ବିଭିନ୍ନ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଜୟ କରିବା ସମୟରେ ସେଠାରୁ ମିଳିଥିବା ସୁନା, ରୂପା, ହୀରା, ଲୀଳା ଆଦି ରତ୍ନ ରାଜା-ମହାରାଜାମାନେ ଦେଉଳକୁ ଦାନ ଦେଉଥିଲେ । ଶହଶହ ବର୍ଷଧରି ରତ୍ନଭଣ୍ଡାରରେ ତାହା ସବୁ ତାଲାପଡ଼ି ରହିଆସିଛି । ୧୯୫୨ ଏବଂ ୧୯୭୮ ମସିହାରେ ରତ୍ନଭଣ୍ଡାରର ତିନିଟି ସିନ୍ଦୁକଖୋଲାଯାଇ ତାଲିକା ତିଆରି ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେଥିରୁ ଅଳଙ୍କାର ବାହାର କରାଯାଇଥିଲା । ଏହି ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ତାଲିକା ତିଆରି କରାଯାଇ ପାରିନାହିଁ । କିଛି ଅଳଙ୍କାର ଭାରତୀୟ ରିଜର୍ଭ ବ୍ୟାଙ୍କରେ ଗଚ୍ଛିତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା । ଆଉ କିଛି ଅଳଙ୍କାର ଠାକୁରଙ୍କ ଦୈନନ୍ଦିନ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କ ବେଶରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର ପାଇଁ ଭଣ୍ଡାରଘରେ ରଖାଯାଇଛି । ଅନେକ ଅଳଙ୍କାର ସମୟକ୍ରମେ ରକ୍ଷନାବେକ୍ଷଣା ବିନା ଭାଙ୍ଗିରୁଜି ଯାଇଛି । ରତ୍ନଭଣ୍ଡାରରେ ତିନିଟି ଚାବି ପଡ଼ିଛି ଯହିଁରୁ ଗୋଟେ ପୁରୀ ଗଜପତିଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଥିବା ବେଳେ ଅନ୍ୟ ୨ଟି ଶ୍ରୀମନ୍ଦିର ପ୍ରଶାସନ ଏବଂ ଭଣ୍ଡାର ମେକାପଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ରହିଛି । ତିନୋଟି ଚାବି ଏକାଠି ହେଲେ ରତ୍ନଭଣ୍ଡାର ଖୋଲାଯାଇ ପାରିବ । ପ୍ରାୟ ୫୦ଟି ବଡ଼ ସିନ୍ଦୁକରେ ରହିଛି ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାରର ମୂଲ୍ୟବାନ ଅଳଙ୍କାର ଭପୂର ହୋଇ ରହିଛି ବୋଲି ଜଣାଯାଏ । ପ୍ରତି ବର୍ଷ ହରିଶୟନ ଏକାଦଶୀତିଥିରେ ରଥ ଉପରେ ସୁନାବେଶ ବେଲେ, ଦୋଳପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣିମା, ବିଜୟାଦଶମୀ, ପୌଷ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣିମା ଏବଂ କାର୍ତ୍ତିକ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣିମା ଭଳି ତିଥିମାନଙ୍କରେ ରତ୍ନସିଂହାସନ ଉପରେ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କୁ ସୁନାବେଶ ବା ରାଜରାଜେଶ୍ୱର ବେଶ କରାଯାଏ । ସବୁଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ସୁନାଗହଣା ହରିଶୟନ ଏକାଦଶୀ ତିଥିରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର ବ୍ୟବହାର ହୋଇଥାଏ । ଗଜଉଦ୍ଧାରଣ ବେଶ, ରଘୁନାଥ ବେଶ, ବଣଭୋଜି ବେଶ, କୃଷ୍ଣବଳରାମ ବେଶ, ରାଧା ଦାମୋଦର ବେଶ, ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀନାରାୟଣ ବେଶ, ବାଙ୍କଚୂଡା ବେଶ, ଆଡ଼କିଆ ବେଶ, ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀନୃସିଂହ ବେଶ,ବାମନ ବେଶ, ଚାଚେରୀ ବେଶ ଏବଂ ଚନ୍ଦନ ବେଶରେ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କୁ ଅଳଙ୍କାର ଆଭୂଷଣ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ ।
