ହିନ୍ଦୁ କିଏ?
ଆମେ ଏପରି ଏକ ସମୟ ଦେଇ ଗତି କରୁଛେ ଯେତେବେଳେ କି ସାମ୍ପ୍ରତିକ ପରିସ୍ଥିତି ଓ ସମାଜ ଜଣେ ହିନ୍ଦୁଠାରୁ ଆଶା ରଖୁଛି କି ସେ ନିଜକୁ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ବା ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଜାତୀୟତାବାଦୀ ବୋଲି ନ କହି "ଧର୍ମନିରପେକ୍ଷ" ବୋଲି କହୁ । ଏବଂ ଅଧିକାଂଶ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଏହି ଫାସରେ ପଡ଼ି ଏକ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଭାବେ ନିଜର ପରିଚୟ ଦେବାକୁ ଅନେକ ସମୟରେ କୁଣ୍ଠାବୋଧ ମଧ୍ୟ କରୁଛନ୍ତି । ତେବେ ଏହି ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଶବ୍ଦର ଆକ୍ଷରିକ ଅର୍ଥ ବା ପରିଭାଷା କଣ, ତାହା ଅନ୍ୟ ଧର୍ମାବଲମ୍ବୀମାନେ କଣ, ସ୍ୱୟଂ ଅଧିକାଂଶ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଜାଣି ନ ଥିବେ । ଏବଂ ଯେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନେ ଏହାର ପ୍ରକୃତ ଅର୍ଥ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ଅବଗତ ହେବେ ଏବଂ ଜାଣିବେ ଯେ "ହିନ୍ଦୁ"ର ଏକ ପରିଭାଷା ମଧ୍ୟ ହେଉଛି "ଯେ ସମସ୍ତ ଧର୍ମକୁ ଭଲ ପାଏ", ସେତେବେଳେ କୁଣ୍ଠାବୋଧ ତ ଦୂରର କଥା, ନିଶ୍ଚିତ ଭାବେ ଗର୍ଵର ସହିତ କହିବେ ଯେ - "ମୁଁ ଜଣେ ହିନ୍ଦୁ" । ଆସନ୍ତୁ ତେବେ ଜାଣିବା ଏହି "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦର ଅର୍ଥ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ।
ଯଦିଓ ଏହି ଶବ୍ଦର ପରିଭାଷା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ବ୍ୟାପକ, ତେବେ ସଂକ୍ଷେପରେ ସେ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ କିଞ୍ଚିତ ଆଲୋଚନା କରିବା । ବୈଦିକ ବାଙ୍ମୟରେ କିମ୍ବା ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ଗ୍ରନ୍ଥାବଳୀରେ "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦର ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ ନାହିଁ । ସେଥିରେ ଏହାର ଏକ ପର୍ଯାୟବାଚୀ ଶବ୍ଦ "ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟ"ର ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ ରହିଛି ଯାହାର ଅର୍ଥ ହେଲା - ସଭ୍ୟ ବା ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ ।
ଅମରକୋଶରେ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣିତ ଅଛି -
ମହାକୁଳକୁଳୀନାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ସଭ୍ୟ ସଜ୍ଜନ ସାଧବଃ ।
ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ - ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଶବ୍ଦର ପ୍ରୟୋଗ ମହାନ କୁଳ, କୁଳୀନ, ସଭ୍ୟ, ସଜ୍ଜନ, ସାଧୁ ଆଦିଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ ।
ସେଥିପାଇଁ ପ୍ରାଚୀନ କାଳରେ ଭାରତକୁ "ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟାବର୍ତ୍ତ" ବା ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କର ଭୂମି ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଉଥିଲା ଯାହାକି ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ ଜନଙ୍କର ନିବାସସ୍ଥାନକୁ ବୁଝାଉଥିଲା ଏବଂ ହିନ୍ଦୁମାନେ ନିଜକୁ "ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟପୁତ୍ର" ବା "ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟପତ୍ନୀ" ଭାବେ ସମ୍ବୋଧିତ କରୁଥିଲେ ।
ବିଶ୍ବାସ କରାଯାଏ ଯେ ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସମୟରେ ବ୍ୟବହୃତ "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦର ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧ ବୈଦେଶିକ ସଭ୍ୟତା ସହିତ ରହିଛି । ପ୍ରାଚୀନ କାଳରେ ସିନ୍ଧୁ ନଦୀ ଉପତ୍ୟକାରେ (ସପ୍ତ ସିନ୍ଧୁ ଯାହାକି ସିନ୍ଧୁ, ସରସ୍ୱତୀ, ଝେଲମ, ସତଲୁଜ, ବିପାଶା, ରାବୀ ଓ ଚେନାଵକୁ ବୁଝାଇଥାଏ) ବା ଏହାର ପୂର୍ବ ଦିଗରେ ବାସ କରୁଥିବା ଅଧିବାସୀଙ୍କୁ ସିନ୍ଧୁ ନଦୀର ପଶ୍ଚିମରେ ବାସ କରୁଥିବା ପାରସ୍ୟ ବା ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ଇରାନର ଅଧିବାସୀ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ବୋଲି କହୁଥିଲେ, କାରଣ ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଭାଷାର "ସ" ଧ୍ଵନି ଇରାନୀୟ ବା ପାର୍ସୀ ଭାଷାରେ "ହ" ଧ୍ୱନିରେ ପରିବର୍ତିତ ବା ଉଚ୍ଚାରିତ ହୋଇଥାଏ । ଏଥିପାଇଁ ବୈଦିକ ବାଙ୍ମୟରେ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣିତ "ସପ୍ତ ସିନ୍ଧଵ" (ସାତ ନଦୀର ଭୂମି) ପାର୍ସୀ ଧର୍ମଗ୍ରନ୍ଥ ଜେଣ୍ଡ ଅବେସ୍ତାରେ "ହପ୍ତ ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ହୋଇଗଲା । ଏହି ପରିଭାଷାକୁ ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସମୟରେ ବୃହସ୍ପତି ନିଗମ (ପାଠାନ୍ତରରେ ଋଗବେଦର ବାର୍ହସ୍ପତ୍ୟ ସଂହିତା) ନାମକ ଗ୍ରନ୍ଥର ଏକ ଶ୍ଲୋକ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ପରିପ୍ରକାଶ କରାଯାଇଛି । ଯଥା -
ହିମାଳୟାତ୍ ସମାରଭ୍ୟ ଯାବତ୍ ଇନ୍ଦୁସରୋବରମ୍ ।
ତଂ ଦେବନିର୍ମିତଂ ଦେଶଂ ହିନ୍ଦୁସ୍ଥାନଂ ପ୍ରଚକ୍ଷତେ ।।
ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ - ହିମାଳୟ ଠାରୁ ଇନ୍ଦୁ ସରୋବର (ହିନ୍ଦ ମହାସାଗର) ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଦେବ ନିର୍ମିତ ଦେଶକୁ ହିନ୍ଦୁସ୍ଥାନ କୁହାଯାଏ ।
ଅନ୍ୟ କେତେକ ଇତିହାସକାର କୁହନ୍ତି ଯେ ଚୀନ ଦେଶର ପରିବ୍ରାଜକ ହୁଏନ ସାଂଙ୍କ ସମୟରେ "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦର ଉତ୍ପତ୍ତି "ଇନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦରୁ ହୋଇଥିଲା । "ଇନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରମାର ପର୍ଯ୍ୟାୟବାଚୀ ଶବ୍ଦ ଏବଂ ଭାରତୀୟ ଜ୍ୟୋତିଷ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଗଣନା ଚନ୍ଦ୍ର ମାସ ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ହୋଇଥାଏ । ଅତଃ ଚୀନ ଦେଶର ଲୋକମାନେ ଭାରତୀୟଙ୍କୁ "ଇନ୍ତୁ" ବା "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ବୋଲି କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ । ତେବେ ଏ ମତବାଦ ତର୍କ ସାପେକ୍ଷ ।
କାଳକ୍ରମେ ଭାରତୀୟମାନେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଭାବରେ ପରିଚିତ ହେବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ଏହି ଶବ୍ଦର ପରିଭାଷା ମଧ୍ୟ ଆଧୁନିକ ସମୟର ବିଭିନ୍ନ ସଂସ୍କୃତ ଗ୍ରନ୍ଥରେ ତଥା ବିଦ୍ୱାନ ମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଉଲ୍ଲିଖିତ ହେବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲା । ଯେପରିକି -
ଆସିନ୍ଧୋଃ ସିନ୍ଧୁପର୍ଯ୍ଯନ୍ତା ଯସ୍ଯ ଭାରତଭୂମିକା ।
ପିତୃଭୂଃ ପୁଣ୍ଯଭୂଶ୍ଚୈବ ସ ବୈ ହିନ୍ଦୁରିତି ସ୍ମୃତଃ ।।
[ଲୋକମାନ୍ୟ ତିଲକଙ୍କ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ]
ଅର୍ଥ- ସିନ୍ଧୁ ନଦୀର ଉତ୍ପତ୍ତି ସ୍ଥଳଠାରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଭାରତମହାସାଗର ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଯାହାର ଜନ୍ମଭୂମି ଓ ପୁଣ୍ଯଭୂମି ସେ ହିଁ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ।
ପୁନଶ୍ଚ -
ଗୋଷୁ ଭକ୍ତିର୍ଭବେଦ୍ଯସ୍ଯ ପ୍ରଣବେ ଚ ଦୃଢା ମତିଃ ।
ପୁନର୍ଜନ୍ମନି ବିଶ୍ବାସଃ ସ ବୈ ହିନ୍ଦୁରିତି ସ୍ମୃତଃ ।। (ଅଜ୍ଞାତ ଉତ୍ସ)
ଅର୍ଥ - ଯାହାର ଗୋମାତା ଠାରେ ଭକ୍ତି, ପ୍ରଣବରେ ଦୃଢମତି ଓ ପୁନର୍ଜନ୍ମରେ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଥାଏ, ସେ ହିଁ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ।
ଯୋ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣାଶ୍ରମ ନିଷ୍ଠାବାନ୍ ଗୋଭକ୍ତ ଶ୍ରୁତିମାତୃକଃ ।
ମୂର୍ତିଂ ଚ ନାବଜାନାତି ସର୍ବଧର୍ମ ସମାଦରଃ ।।
ଉତ୍ପ୍ରେକ୍ଷତେ ପୁନର୍ଜନ୍ମ ତସ୍ମାନ୍ମୋକ୍ଷଣମୀହତେ ।
ଭୂତାନୁକୂଲ୍ଯଂ ଭଜତେ ସ ବୈ ହିନ୍ଦୁରିତି ସ୍ମୃତଃ ।।
[ଆଚାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଵିନୋବା ଭାବେଙ୍କ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ]
ଅର୍ଥ - ବର୍ଣ୍ଣାଶ୍ରମବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥାରେ ଯାହାର ନିଷ୍ଠା, ଯିଏ ଗୋଭକ୍ତ, ବେଦମାତାର ଉପାସକ, ମୂର୍ତ୍ତିପୂଜାକୁ ଅବଜ୍ଞା କରେ ନାହିଁ, ସମସ୍ତ ଧର୍ମକୁ ଭଲପାଏ, ପୁନର୍ଜନ୍ମକୁ ଉପେକ୍ଷା କରି ମୋକ୍ଷକୁ ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରେ ଓ ସଂସାରର କଲ୍ଯାଣ କାମନା କରେ, ସେ ହିଁ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ।
ହିଂସୟା ଦୂୟତେ ଚିତ୍ତଂ ତେନ ହିନ୍ଦୁରିତୀରିତଃ ।।
[ଆଚାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଵିନୋବା ଭାବେଙ୍କ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ]
ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ - ହିଂସାତ୍ମକ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଦ୍ବାରା ଯାହାର ଦୁଃଖ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ ହୁଏ, ସେ ହିଁ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ।
"ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦର ଏହି ପରିଭାଷା ଗୁଡିକ ଯଦିଓ ସାମଗ୍ରୀକ ଭାବେ ଏହି ଶବ୍ଦର ଅର୍ଥଟିକୁ ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିବାରେ ସହାୟକ ହୋଇଥାନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖଯୋଗ୍ୟ ଯେ ଭାରତବର୍ଷରେ ଏପରି ଅନେକ ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟ ରହିଛନ୍ତି ଯେଉଁମାନେ କି "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଭାବେ ପରିଗଣିତ, ମାତ୍ର ଉପରୋକ୍ତ ସମସ୍ତ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ସେମାନେ ହୁଏତ ନିଜକୁ "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଭାବେ ପ୍ରତିପାଦିତ କରିବାକୁ ଅସମର୍ଥ ହେବେ । ସେହି ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟ ଗୁଡିକ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେତୋଟି ହେଲା - ଲିଙ୍ଗାୟତ, ବୀରା ଶୈବ, ସାନ୍ଥାଳ ମାନଙ୍କ ପରି ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଆଦିବାସୀ ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟ ଇତ୍ୟାଦି । ଯଦିଓ ଏହି ସବୁ ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟର ଅନୁଗାମୀ ମାନେ ସାଧାରଣତଃ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଭାବେ ପରିଗଣିତ, ତେବେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ଏବଂ ସାମାଜିକ ଜୀବନଶୈଳୀକୁ ନେଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ନିଜସ୍ଵ ସ୍ୱାତନ୍ତ୍ର୍ୟ ରହିଛି । ତେଣୁ ପୁନଶ୍ଚ ମନରେ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ଆସେ ଯେ "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" କିଏ?

କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟମ୍ ଆଚରନ୍ କାମମ୍ ଅକର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟମ୍ ଅନାଚରନ୍ ।
ତିଷ୍ଠତି ପ୍ରକୃତାଚାରେ ଯଃ ସଃ ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଇତି ସ୍ମୃତଃ ।।
ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ - ଯେ ଅନାଚରଣୀୟ କର୍ମକୁ ପାଳନ ନକରି ଆଚରଣୀୟ କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟକର୍ମର ପାଳନ ପ୍ରାକୃତ ସ୍ଥିତିରେ ରହି କରିଥାନ୍ତି, ତାଙ୍କୁ ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟ କୁହାଯାଏ ।
ଏବଂ ଏହି କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟକର୍ମ, ଆର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଧର୍ମ ବା ସନାତନ ଧର୍ମ (ଯାହାକୁ ଆମେ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଧର୍ମ ବୋଲି କହୁଛୁ)ର ଉପଦେଶ ଅନୁସାରେ ସମ୍ପାଦିତ ହୋଇଥାଏ । ତେଣୁ "ହିନ୍ଦୁ" ଶବ୍ଦର ଅର୍ଥ ବୁଝିବାକୁ ହେଲେ ପ୍ରଥମେ ଆମକୁ ସନାତନ ଧର୍ମର ଅର୍ଥ ବୁଝିବାକୁ ହେବ । ଯେ ସନାତନ ଧର୍ମର ଉପଦେଶ ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଆଚରଣ କରିଥାଏ, ସେହିଁ ହିନ୍ଦୁ । ସନାତନ ଧର୍ମ ଏବଂ ତାହାର ଉପଦେଶ ଗୁଡିକ କଣ, ତାହା ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ଆଲେଖ୍ୟଟିରେ ସଂକ୍ଷେପରେ ଆଲୋଚନା କରିବା । ସେତେବେଳ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ବିଦାୟ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ । ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ । ଜୟ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ !
